Dear users of The Earth Apocalypse, this is a major update.
While Facepunch working on game performance, i want to make sure to give the best quality-performance ratio possible on my maps.
The Earth Apocalypse being the largest hand-made custom map ever, it is normal that it takes more ressources to run; However now with the modern
tools that we have access to, i can now optimize it better to give it better visuals and performance.
This update called The Modern Update is an huge overhaul to many of the monuments, in specific the city. Everything look way better, cleaner. I also took into account
feedback of players : The map has too much loot everywhere, too many places where the player could be in the city.
And one important thing is sites of interests; It is better to have better quality areas, than too much areas with poor quality. According to that, some unnessary areas in the city was removed.
This concern mostly the interiors in some building you could go. In the process, this saved a lot of entities, and along with other structure optimizations that i made, the map is much less heavier and load faster.
Some interiors have been completely reworked and overall, the city is more coloured and realistic.
Here now some other stuff that have changed :
– The bandit camp has been removed due to a game bug spawning scientists for no reason, and not fixable. Instead, a new custom safezone has been added to the south bridge wich
connect africa and south america. In this safezone, you can purchase helis and boats, and also helis in Outpost (wich you previously cant).
– A new bridge originaly reserved to the new map has been added to replace a bridge that was not rendering properly on the earth.
– Trains tracks have been fixed, along with many other small issues.
This update should make the map shine again and mark a new era.
